AUGUST 12: The Kansas City Public Library is partnering with KC CARE Health Center to increase access to the COVID-19 vaccine. Beginning August 5, anyone in need of a COVID-19 vaccine can receive one from KC CARE Health Center at the North-East Branch (6000 Wilson Ave.) on Thursdays from noon to 6 p.m. No registration is required.


AUGUST 12:
Join the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce at Boulevard Bakery for a Ribbon Tying and Coffee, Culture and Conversation. After 30 years of custom cookies and bakery treats, the bakery at 2815 Independence Avenue will be closing in August. Come and sign the BIG retirement card, Eleos Coffee Truck will be in the parking lot, balloons, a proclamation and special guests are on the agenda.


AUGUST 13:
The Brad Allen Trio will bring the cool sounds of Jazz to Friday in the Park at North Kansas City’s Festival Pavilion in Macken Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All concerts are free and open to the public. AUGUST 14: Back to School Bash at Lykins Park (8th and Myrtle) aims to stop violence and prevent crime. There will be live gospel and rap music, free popcorn, snowcones, hotdogs, horse rides, carnival games, rock climbing, bounce houses and much more from noon to 4 p.m.

AUGUST 15: Balloon release to honor Michael Rich on his 21st birthday at Concourse Park (200 Benton Blvd.) at 4 p.m. Please wear red shirts since that was his favorite color or the black and white tees with his picture on it. Michael’s family hopes to bring awareness to mental health and suicide prevention.
