KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Curious about how the city government works? Do you want tips from city staff on how to improve your community?

Then consider Community Engagement University, a free city program designed to connect residents of Kansas City, Mo., with their government. The goal of the program is to build a better Kansas City for everyone.

The program kicks off from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 at city hall, 414 E. 12th St. Program sessions will then continue every Tuesday for eight weeks, through Oct. 28, at the same location and time. To participate, residents must pre-register at http://tinyurl.com/CEUregistration or 816-513-1330.

Community Engagement University is a hands-on, interactive program for residents 18-years-old and above. The sessions cover basic knowledge of the city’s functions and operations. Course materials will be provided during the first session. The class size is limited to the first 30 residents who enroll. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions to get the most from the program, and a minimum of seven sessions are required to graduate with certification.

The sessions include: Local Government 101, We Keep this City Safe, We Keep this City Clean, We keep this City Healthy and Active, We Build and Improve this City #1, We Build and Improve this City #2, We are in Your Neighborhood and Dollars and Sense and Graduation.
