It was a busy night for KCPD officers  in Historic Northeast last night.

Just before 6pm, a shooting occurred in the parking lot of a convenience store at Independence and Bales Avenues. The victim in that shooting is expected to survive. Police are searching for two suspects.

Later, just before 10 p.m., East Patrol officers were advised that Independence Police was in pursuit of a burglary suspect and that pursuit was headed west into Kansas City.

The Chase ended in the area of 9th and Monroe at which point the suspect bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot. After a short foot chase the Independence officer discharged his weapon striking the suspect. Aid was rendered but the adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm was also located at the scene. Kansas City Missouri police canvassed the area and continue to process the scene.

Early Wednesday morning, just after 2:45 a.m. officers were dispatched to a gas station near 5401 Winner Road on a reported shooting.

Approximately 10 minutes later another shooting call came out just to the West in the 5300 block of Williamsburg Court in the Greenleaf Apartments.

Officers located an adult male outside the gas station on Winner Road who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. That victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.

The second adult black male victim was located inside an apartment in the Greenleaf apartment complex. That victim was also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was also pronounced dead at the scene by EMS Personnel. One person of interest is currently in custody in relation the incidents near 5401 Winner Road.
