What originated as a 911 call regarding a woman bleeding from the mouth turned into a homicide March 9.

Kansas City Police Department officers responded to the ambulance call for 800 Myrtle at 10:22 a.m. and discovered a deceased adult female inside the residence with blood on her face.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner determined the victim, 51-year-old Gwendolyn E. Pahmeyer, died from blunt force trauma to the head and ruled the death a homicide.

Pahmeyer’s live-in boyfriend, Roger L. Chandler, 54, was the 911 caller and told police he discovered his girlfriend’s dead body when he awoke that morning.

During an interview with detectives, Chandler said he consumed two-thirds to half a gallon of whiskey the previous day and hit his girlfriend two to three times in the torso.

At approximately 4 a.m., Chandler checked on Pahmeyer and noticed blood gush from her mouth while she made grunting noises, according to court documents. However, Chandler didn’t call police at that time.

Chandler has been charged with a Class A felony of second degree murder.
