This Book of the Week recommendation is by Amanda Barnhart, Branch Manager at the North-East Branch of the Kansas City Public Library.

Amanda chose “True or False: A CIA Analyst’s Guide to Spotting Fake News” by Cindy L. Otis.

“‘True or False’ contains engaging, accessible stories that aren’t didactic, yet provides the reader with a foundation to detect facts from fiction, including understanding how visual communication can be fudged to spread fake news,” Amanda said. “Many of our conversations are occurring on social media platforms where fake news goes viral. In considering how to combat stereotypes, racism and xenophobia, community members can develop their media literacy skills to distinguish fake news from credible sources, point out bias, and help identify solutions.”

The recommendation is available through the Kansas City Library for placing a hold as an e-audiobook, e-book or physical item.
