This week’s book was recommended by Dave Joiner, Library Technical Assistant at North-East Branch Library.

He chose “Slaughterhouse-five, Or, The Children’s Crusade: A Duty-Dance with Death” by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. for the Banned Book series.

“Slaughterhouse-five is a book that has been banned and burned for being depraved, immoral, psychotic and anti-Christian,” Joiner said. “Those themes do exist within the story but, they fail to add that the book is poignant, honest, thought-provoking and humorous, so it goes.”

“Slaughterhouse-five, Or, The Children’s Crusade: A Duty-Dance with Death” can be accessed using a Kansas City Public Library card as an eBook and downloadable audiobook.
