Mattie Rhodes Community Center, 148 N. Topping, will host La Chalupa Farmer’s Market every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Mattie Rhodes parking lot. EBT/SNAP cards will get extra dollars for local produce.

 

Hard Hat Happy Hour
Explore Kansas City Museum’s more than 100-year-old mansion home, Corinthian Hall, with a glass during the Kansas City Museum’s Hard Hat Happy Hour. You’ll see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, hear first-hand about plans for the mansion’s future and more. Cost is $5. Tour will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tour members must be at least 21 to attend.

Independence Plaza Neighborhood Meeting
Independence Plaza Neighborhood Council will host its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in the basement of City Union Mission’s New Life Center Building, 1301 Olive. Agenda will include the nominating committee and IPNC officers election in November.

 

Chamber After Hours at AJ’s
Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will host an After Hours event at AJ’s Bar, 2618 Independence Ave., from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The night will include food, drawings, prizes and a graffiti-b-gone demonstration at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.

 

Free Mammograms
Sheffield Family Life Center has received a grant from the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Greater Kansas City to offer free mammograms through the St. Luke’s Cancer Institute. To receive the free mammogram, women must meet certain criteria. Appointments can be made for Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make an appointment, call Jan Burch at (816) 241-5433 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A+ Healthy Child Day
Join Mattie Rhodes, 148 N. Topping, Kansas City, Mo., for its A+ Healthy Child Day Thursday, Oct. 11, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Activities will center around physical fitness and healthy eating. The day will also include booths set up by area organizations, refreshments, a clown, Zumba for kids, contests, giveaways and more. All are invited to attend this free event.

 

James Elementary Reunion
James Elementary, 5810 Scarritt, will host a reunion Oct. 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the school. The reunion will be a time for socializing and refreshments will be provided.

 

Scarritt Renaissance Gathering
Come meet your neighbors on a crisp fall evening while celebrating Scaritt Renaissance’s version of Octoberfest. Join the fun on the grassy area to the west of the Kansas City Museum on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. All are welcome – even if you don’t live in the neighborhood. Fox 4 Love Fund
The Fox 4 Love Fund for Children will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at Finnegan’s Hall, 503 E. 18th Ave., North Kansas City, Mo. Doors open at 6 p.m. and entertainment begins at 7 p.m. Once again, Shanice and Maurice Hayes of America’s Got Talent will perform. Other activities will include dancing, a cash bar, mini auction, prizes for best costumes and more. Tickets are $15 per person in advance or $20 at the door.
