Nuisance Sign Removal Training The City of Kansas City will host a Nuisance Sign Removal Training for residents and neighborhood groups at 6 p.m. at the Neighborhood Preservation Division, 4900 Swope Parkway.

La Chalupa Farmer’s Market Mattie Rhodes Community Center, 148 N. Topping, will host La Chalupa Farmer’s Market every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Mattie Rhodes parking lot. EBT/SNAP cards will get extra dollars for local produce.

 

Bead Making Kids ages 8 and up are invited to attend North-East Public Library’s bead making class at 5 p.m. Design your own clay beads!

 

Voter 101 Be prepared for the presidential election. Learn about voter deadlines, provisional ballots, new voter ID cards, ID’s required at the polls and more. The class will be held at 6 p.m. at North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

Free Admission to Kansas City Zoo Jackson and Clay County residents will receive free admission to the Kansas City Zoo from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., thanks to the establishment of the Zoological Tax District. Residents must bring a photo ID with their Jackson or Clay County address to gain free admission.

 

Northeast Vikings N Club Northeast Vikings N Club will host a meeting at 8:30 a.m. at the HyVee Store Meeting Room, 350 Highway and Raytown Rd. Guest speaker will be NEHS Football Coach Terry McCray, who will also bring a DVD of the 2011-2012 NEHS football season. McCray may also bring several of the current football players. In addition, Charley Shields and Bob Marshall will share memories.

Free Mammograms Sheffield Family Life Center has received a grant  from the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Greater Kansas City to offer free mammograms through the St. Luke’s Cancer Institute. To receive the free mammogram, women must meet certain criteria. Appointments can be made for Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make an appointment, call Jan Burch at (816) 241-5433 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

Fox 4 Love Fund The Fox 4 Love Fund for Children will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at Finnegan’s Hall, 503 E. 18th Ave., North Kansas City, Mo. Doors open at 6 p.m. and entertainment begins at 7 p.m. Once again, Shanice and Maurice Hayes of America’s Got Talent will perform. Other activities will include dancing, a cash bar, mini auction, prizes for best costumes and more. Tickets are $15 per person in advance or $20 at the door. Columbus Day Social The American Sons/Daughters of Columbus Kansas City will host a Columbus Day Social in honor of Tom Gialde.
