Coffee on the Corridor
The Northeast Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a free Coffee on the Corridor event Thursday, March 28th at 10 am at 2657 Independence Avenue. The Chamber wants to find out what YOU are interested in and to share information on what they do at the Chamber, CID, and The Egg Business Gallery. Join in for free coffee!

Northeast Storytime
Join in at the Northeast library for singing, dancing, stories, and fun activities that activate your little one’s brain! Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers (Ages 0-5). Storytime will be held Friday, March 29th from 11am to 12pm at 6000 Wilson Rd in the Children’s Area.

KC Urban Youth Academy “Swing Into Spring”
Join the KCUYA to “Swing Into Spring” celebrating the season kick-off with a Community Open House! There will be plenty of games, activities and food, including a special appearance by Royals alumni players, so make sure to come out to this family-friendly event! Happening at Kansas City Urban Youth Academy, 1622 E 17th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64108 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

 

Urban Core Cleanup
The Urban Core Cleanup is set for Saturday, March 30, from 8 a.m. to noon. This spring cleaning event is bringing multiple neighborhood groups together to address trash and illegal dumping in their communities. The neighborhood associations participating are Washington Wheatley, Santa Fe, South Round Top, 23rd St. Pac, Blue Valley, McCoy, Independence Plaza, Vinyard, Seven Oaks, Oak Park and Heart of the City. The cleanup is sponsored by 3rd District At-Large Councilman Quinton Lucas with support from Neighborhoods and Housing Services and the Health Department’s Aim4Peace Violence Prevention Program. If you live in any of these areas, bring all bulky items, brush and tires to the trucks assigned to your neighborhood. Inquiries should be directed to Nephateri Hill at 816-513-7921.

Understanding the IEP Process for Parents of Children with ADHD
Join Princess Banks from MPACT (Missouri Parents Act)! What is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder? How do you qualify? Who can diagnose it, prescribe medications, and offer counseling? Does a child with ADHD automatically qualify for an IEP? This training will answer these questions and many more. It will also provide strategies for parents to teach their children how to manage their symptoms. Also included are “Tips for Teachers” for specific instructional strategies that can be used in the classroom. Experiencing KC Opportunity Zones

Join in April 10th from 10 am to 12pm at the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce (2657 Independence Avenue) to learn about Opportunity Zones. Participants will learn about the benefits of utilizing Opportunity Zone incentives applied to residential and commercial development projects within Northeast Kansas City and other urban Kansas City locations. Economic development staff from Representative Cleaver’s office and other KC professionals will lead this interactive discussion.
