Chouteau Fountain Sculpture Unveiling
Celebrate the unveiling of the first of four sculptures by artist Kwan Wu that will be installed at the Chouteau Heritage Fountain to be located in the Northland. The fountain honors the founder of Kansas City, Francois Chouteau, and the Native Americans who lived and traded in the area. The event will be held Wednesday, March 6th at 12pm at Rotunda of City Hall, 414 E. 12th St. (Parking available at JE Dunn Construction, 1001 Locust)

 

Thursday, March 7

Olive Center Playgroup and Open Play
Start at Zero is hosting a bilingual playgroup at 555 Olive on Thursday, March 7th from 10am to 12pm and open play from 1pm to 5:30 p.m. Bring your child to play and stop by the Success by 6 Center during this time. There will be toys, activities and fun!

 

Friday, March 8

Northeast Storytime
Join in at the Northeast branch for singing, dancing, stories and fun activities that activate your little one’s brain! Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers (Ages 0-5). Storytime will be held Friday, March 1st from 11am to 12pm at 6000 Wilson Rd in the Children’s Area.

 

Saturday, March 9

Teen Drop-In: Comic Strips
Every second Saturday of the month, the Northeast Library has Teen Drop-In. This month, they are working with a local comic strip artist, Bryan Stalder, to guide you in creating your own comic! Attend this event for a chance to win a novelty comic prize! This event will be held Saturday, March 9th from 2pm to 3:30pm at the Northeast Library (6000 Wilson) and is for teens ages 12-18.

 

Monday, March 11

Healthy Living Challenge: Stay Strong Stay Healthy
The Northeast Library is having a Healthy Living Challenge Monday, March 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Participatns will learn 8 simple exercises designed to improve daily living. These moves will build strength, improve your balance, and your health. Everyone starts at a level that’s right for them! Adults over 55 are encouraged to join. Every Monday and Wednesday!

 

Tuesday, March 12

Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association Meeting
Pendleton Heights will be holding their monthly neighborhood meeting Tuesday, March 12th from 7pm to 8pm at Kansas City University Alumni Center: 1750 Independence Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64106.

Coffee on the Corridor
Join local residents and neighborhood leaders at the monthly “Coffee on the Corridor” at the offices of the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce (NEKCCoC) and the Independence Avenue Community Improvement District (IA CID) located at 2657 Independence Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64124 on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Join community members over coffee and donuts for a monthly ‘Meet & Greet’ every second Tuesday each month.

Kessler Park Cleanup
Community members will be meeting Friday, March 15th from 10am to 1pm at Gate 2 to help clean up Kessler Park. Join in to take back the park with some beautification efforts. Please wear long sleeves, boots, bring gloves and loppers. Invite others and please email board@pendletonheights.org if you know volunteer groups that love to annihilate invasive honeysuckle or pickup trash. See you there!
