JVS Global Garden Class
Jewish Vocational Services Global Gardens program develops garden spaces from vacant lots and empowers refugees to grow food, beauty, and connections in the Historic Northeast Kansas City. The program goals are to increase healthy eating, increase exercise, and decrease social isolation. JVS Global Gardens provides land, water, resources, and education for refugees to grow culturally specific vegetables and fruits for their family, friends, and neighbors. JVS offers horticulture and nutrition workshops for Global Gardens’ clients and families. JVS also offers program management, labor, and overall community garden maintenance. These community gardens provide opportunities for our refugees to interact with one another in a social setting and develop friendships within their community. Come to the Global Garden Class Saturday, February 9th from 8:30 am to 12pm at the Northeast Chamber of Commerce at 2657 Independence Avenue. For more information, please contact Molly Fusselman at MFusselman@JVSKC.org or (816) 629-8893.
