“Scare-it” Halloween
Join the Scarritt Neighborhood on October 31, from 5pm to 8pm, for Trick-or-Treating, a Haunted House and other spooky surprises. The event starts at the Kansas City Museum and continues down to Mersington Avenue.

 

ESL Conversation Group
The Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library will host an ESL Conversation Group on Wednesday, October 31, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. In class you will learn basic English skills: grammar, listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, and conversation. North-East Library Trick-or-Treat
Come in costume and stay for treats and activities! From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., add the North-East branch to your trick-or-treat route this Halloween! Small activities for children and teens will be available.

 

Stay Strong Exercising at North-East Library
Learn 8 simple exercises designed to improve daily living. These moves will build strength, improve your balance, and your health. Everyone starts at a level that’s right for them! Adults over 55 are encouraged to join. Every Monday and Wednesday 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

 

Thursday, November 1

Mattie Rhodes Center health clinic
The Northeast location of the Mattie Rhodes Center (148 N. Topping) opens its evening health clinic, named La Clinica, every Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. No appointments needed, but care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Drop-in Tech Coach
The North-East branch of the Kansas City Public Library will bring in a tech coach to assist the public on Thursday, October 18, from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Get answers to questions about Microsoft Word and Excel; the internet; email, formatting a resume and online applications; syncing your smart phone, and so much more.

 

Teen Game Night
Come play the Wii, the Xbox, the Playstation, and more from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the North-East Branch of the Public Library. This event is appropriate for ages 12-18.

 

Friday, November 2

Chair Fitness
The North-East Public Library Branch (6000 Wilson Rd.) will host a chair fitness class every Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. No matter what your limitations, you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to offer a total body workout. Cardio, stength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.

 

Story time at Central Library
Come out to the Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library on Tuesday, November 6, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for story time. Join the library every Tuesday for stories, songs, and plenty of time for play. The library encourages patrons to talk, sing, read, write and play every day, but Tuesdays are special because parking is free!

 

Calaca Street Parade
Join Mattie Rhodes Center and Stone Lion Puppet Theatre for the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the colorful and traditional Mexican Day of the Dead holiday with Mattie Rhodes Center, 915 W 17th St, with events featuring delicious food, drinks, live music, beautiful altars, and fantastic art from 5-10 p.m.

Cliffhanger 5K & 10K
