Art in the Park lunchtime concert
The Art in the Park lunchtime concert series continues on Wednesday, June 20, with a performance by Simon Fink from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at West Terrace Park (8th and Pennsylvania). Fink is a composer and songwriter who holds his Ph.D. in Music Composition from the University of Chicago. He enjoys exploring a variety of musical genres from Americana to electronic. Take a lunch break and bring your chair! Free and open to the public.

Mattie Rhodes Center health clinic
The Northeast location of the Mattie Rhodes Center (148 N. Topping) opens its evening health clinic, named La Clinica, every Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. No appointments needed, but care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Northeast Alliance Together (NEAT) meeting
The next Northeast Alliance Together (NEAT) meeting will be on Thursday, June 21st at 8:30 a.m. at the Northeast Branch Public Library at 6000 Wilson Rd.

Pre-School story time: fossil digs
The North-East Public Library Branch (6000 Wilson Rd.) will host a pre-school story time event on Friday, June 22, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Does your child love dinosaurs and love to dig in the sand? Bring them to hunt for special dinosaur fossils and hear stories about dinosaurs!

Hyde Park Children’s Film Festival
The Hyde Park Children’s Film Festival continues on Friday, June 22 with a screening of the 2017 version of Beauty and the Beast. Music begins at 7:30 p.m. and the film begins at 8:30 p.m. in Hyde Park (36th and Gilham). Bring a blanket or lawn chair to this fun, free evening in the park for the entire city. Featuring great movies, entertainment, prizes and refreshments. This year’s summer concert series features all youth bands (age 21 and under) from the Kansas City area. Come out and enjoy the vibe. The Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association will host a Flea Market sale at 3110 Thompson Ave. on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days, rain or shine. JVS to host 12th annual World Refugee Day
Jewish Vocational Services and Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) will host the 12th annual World Refugee Day on Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Ricci Auditorium (1730 Independence Ave.). The event is a celebration of refugees through food, culture and music. The event will include keynote speaker Jono A. Anzalone, VP of International Services of the Red Cross; a screening of refugee journey documentary film I Am Rebecca (http://iamrebeccafilm.com/); and feature performances by Dynamq from South Sudan and Somali Student Association of Greater Kansas City’s Somali Cultural Dance.

Summer Food Rocks at Sycamore Groves
Sycamore Groves Apartments (2920 E. 17th St.) is feeding children and teens this summer (ages 1-18) as part of its Summer Food Rocks free summer meal program. From June 3 through August 4, Sycamore Groves will be offering free breakfast (9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) and lunch (12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.), Monday through Friday. Kansas City Museum Project Update
The Kansas City Museum will host a exhibit design and development presentation on Wednesday, June 27, from 6:15 to 8 p.m. at it’s space in the Historic Garment District (800 Broadway). A formal presentation will occur from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., with an open house with design team members taking place from 7:15 p.m. until 8 p.m. Hear from the Museum project team about the newest in the Exhibit Design and Development process. Learn more of the core interpretative and thematic core stories that Museum guests will experience in its exhibits and programs. Representatives from JE Dunn will also be present to provide an update about construction at Corinthian Hall.

Introduction to finding grants
The Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library will host an introductory class about finding grants on Thursday, June 28, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Are you new to the field of grantseeking? Discover what funders are looking for in nonprofits seeking grants and how to find potential funders.
You will learn the 10 most important things you need to know about finding grants, including: who funds nonprofits and what are their motivations; what do funders really want to know about the organizations they are interested in funding; how do you identify potential funders and make the first approach.
This program is presented by Teleange’ Thomas, Directior of the Foundation Center Midwest and Kelly Mahon, Funding Information Network Supervisor at Kansas City Public Library.
