Family Days at Prospect Plaza Park
Prospect Plaza Park (11th and Prospect) will host a Family Days celebration on Wednesday, June 28, from 10 a.m. until noon. This family-friendly event will include lots of fun activities such as a bounce house, crafts, games, and food. Bring your neighbors and get in on the fun.

Substance abuse recovery
A substance abuse recovery meeting will take place at 7 p.m. every Wednesday at New Beginning Apostolic Church. Contact Frederick Wilson (816-786-1981) for more information.

 

Thursday, June 29

Mattie Rhodes Center health clinic
The Northeast location of the Mattie Rhodes Center (148 N. Topping) opens its evening health clinic, named La Clinica, every Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. No appointments needed, but care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Northeast Farmer’s Market
The next Northeast Farmer’s Market will be on Thursday, June 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 3001 Independence Avenue. Items to be included at the market are vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, bread, and more. Live music and a dedicated kids activity tent are also featured. The market also participates in the Double Up Food Bucks KC program. Chair Fitness
The North-East Public Library Branch (6000 Wilson Rd.) will host a chair fitness class on Friday, June 30, beginning at 9:30 a.m. No matter what your limitations, you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to offer a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.

Fridays in the Park – North Kansas City
The Doug Talley Quartet will bring the music of cool jazz to Friday in the Park at North Kansas City’s Festival Pavilion in Macken Park (Howell St & Clark Ferguson Dr.) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All concerts are free and open to the public, and every event features a drawing for prizes donated by local businesses. This event is sponsored by the City of North Kansas City.

 

Tuesday, July 4

Scarritt Renaissance 4th of July Celebration
Join the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association at The Concourse (Gladstone and St. John) on Tuesday, July 4 from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for the association’s 4th of July celebration and light show. The event was supported by Neighborhood Tourism Development Funds, as well as though generous local donations. The family-friendly event is free, fun and safe. Festivities will include a laser light show, food trucks, games, and much more.
