A guide to daily legal dealings with Malik James, Brian Noland, and Jim Breckenridge
Join the North-East Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, as Attorneys from Sly James Law Firm — Malik James, Brian Noland, and Jim Breckenridge — offer advice for dealing with legal issues that can have big ramifications on your life and career. This programs take place on Tuesday evenings with the same topic repeated the following Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
Neighborhood Association meetings
The Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association will host its next monthly meeting from 7 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, East Independence Avenue. On the same night, the Independence Plaza Neighborhood Council will host its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Woodland Elementary, 711 Woodland Ave.

Walk with ease club
At 9:30 a.m. at the North-East Library, this six-week course will teach participants how to walk and stretch safely, increase flexibility, and improve balance. Weekly incentives will be given to participants. Learn how walking can improve your fitness and help manage your arthritis pain.
My Kansas City: the Heritage & Legacy of the Historic Northeast
This exhibition explores the important history of Kansas City’s Historic Northeast neighborhoods and its long-awaited renaissance. As one of Kansas City’s oldest areas, the Historic Northeast’s past includes legendary, lively stories and shared memories of magnates, immigrants, mansions, ethnic businesses, and more. From culturally diverse neighborhoods, active residents, and visionary leaders to iconic monuments and beautiful natural resources, the Historic Northeast has deep historical significance for Kansas City—and the resilience and creativity of its neighborhoods is a beacon for the future. The exhibition is located in the Museum’s Carriage House and is on display through Jan. 16, 2016. Exhibition Tours are free and self-guided from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

Taco Dinner
Cardinal Glennon Council #4613 is hosting a taco dinner from 5 – 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, in St. Joseph’s Hall at St. Anthony’s Church, 3208 Lexington Ave. The Tacos will be prepared by Isaac Jimenez, with a menu featuring three soft tacos, rice and beans for $6.
Northeast Artists Pop-Up Placemaking
Curator Rebecca Koop presents a display of artworks and programs by artists who live in the Northeast and who are contributing to its neighborhood renaissance. An artists reception will be held from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. This exhibit runs until Nov. 28.
Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines
Curated by Dr. Gene T. Chavez and presented by the Kansas City Museum in partnership with El Centro, Inc., Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines is an exhibition exploring the rich history and legacy of Mexican American fast pitch softball leagues in Missouri and Kansas. This exhibition features a documentary film based on oral histories of former players and items from personal collections including photographs, uniforms, league documents, trophies, and other historical materials. On view from 1 – 2 p.m.

Knights of Columbus breakfast
Join the Knights of Columbus #4613 from 8:30 a.m. – noon on Sunday, Nov. 8, for breakfast at St. Joseph’s Hall at St. Anthony’s Church, 3208 Lexington Ave. The Knights are rolling back prices two years when breakfast was $5.50 Adults, and $3 for children 12 and under. Breakfast menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, gravy over biscuits, Chorizo, coffee and orange juice.

Join the Kiwanis Club for their annual Chili Day from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Salvation Army, 6618 E. Truman Road. Menu includes chili, drinks and desert for $7. Take out is available.
Northeast N Club Turkey Trot 5K run/walk
The charity run takes place along scenic Cliff Drive at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. Entry fee is $10. First place runners in select age groups will receive a turkey. All participants will receive a medal. A raffle to win four turkeys cost $2 per ticket, or 3 for $5. All proceeds go into the Hall of Fame at Northeast High School. Holiday homes tour
From noon – 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, head over to Pendleton Heights for the ninth annual Pendleton Heights Homes Tour and Artist Market. The festivities start at Scuola Vita Nuova Charter School, 535 Garfield Ave., where you’ll check in and get your map and booklet. Then, check out the five open houses on the tour. Learn a little about Kansas City history, perhaps see some things you’ve never seen before, and grab a bite to eat. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. All proceeds benefit Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association and Scuola Vita Nuova.
