Scare-It Halloween

Scare-It Halloween, a free community Halloween event, will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Scarritt Renaissance neighborhood. About 20 Halloween-themed “safe houses” will be available to youngsters for trick-or-treating. This year, a haunted house will be featured at the gazebo in front of the Kansas City Museum. The event will span four blocks, starting at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., and continuing to Gladstone Boulevard and Mersington. Those roads will be closed to vehicle traffic for pedestrian safety.

Story Time and Craft

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft geared toward toddlers and preschoolers at 10:30 a.m.

ID Shield Event

Central Bank of Kansas City will host an ID Shield Event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the main branch, 2301 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Shred your personal documents and more. There will also be prizes and a kids’ trick-or-treat. Customers and the community are welcome to attend.

Family Fun Day: Music is My First Love

The Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., will host its First Sunday Family Fun Day from noon to 4 p.m. Create arts and crafts and listen to music inspired by the museum’s newest exhibit: “Music is My First Love: The Lupe M. Gonzalez Orchestra.” Visitors will listen to local musicians and make their own musical instrument. Cost is free.

Join the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., for its monthly Northeast Book Club at 2 p.m. Share your passion for books and join in on riveting book discussions.

Scarritt Neighborhood Monthly Meeting

Scarritt Renaissance will host its next monthly meeting at 6:30 at the Kansas City Museum. City Councilwoman Jan Marcason will be the guest and will discuss the status of discussions between the Kansas City Museum and Union Station and next steps for the Kansas City Museum.

Kansas City Museum Hard Hat Happy Hour

Explore Kansas City Museum’s 100-plus-year-old mansion home, Corinthian Hall, with a glass of wine from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 7. You’ll see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Examine 100-year-old craftsmanship and hear first-hand about plans for the grand mansion’s future from museum staff. Cost is $5. Tour members must be 21 to attend and wear closed-toe shoes.

VFW Potluck Dinner

VFW Auxiliary #9997, 6801 Wilson Rd., Kansas City, Mo., will host a “Veteran Day Potluck” Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. till ? All veterans and their families are welcome.

Scarritt Renaissance Coffee Club

Scarritt Coffee Club will host its monthly gathering from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Guest of honor is Paul Helmer of Touch of Distinction, who will give a Powerpoint presentation called “Period Color Schemes,” which will focus on older properties in KC and outside of the metro area. Before and after pictures will be shown. Hosts are Cisse Spragins and Sean O’Toole. Please bring a savory or sweet breakfast hors d’oeuvre to share. Coffee will be catered by Eleos Coffee.
