Calling the justice system in Jackson County a joke would be a gross understatement. Of course, using the words “justice system” and “Jackson County” in the same breath is not only a contradiction in terms but this newsdog is surprised we don’t burst in to flames afterwards.

Continuing on last week’s missive on the infamous Tyler Sutton, this crafty news writin’ canine isn’t surprised that almost immediately after his Friday court appearance that reinstated the stipulation in his bond that he steer clear of the 426 S. Gladstone Blvd. residence, Sutton bonded out before the ink on the booking statement was even dry. This journalism driven canine is sick up and fed with the psycho-babble offered up by the politicians who care more for the criminal and their own job security than they do those victimized by the offenders who continue to roam the streets with relative immunity. Now, even the courts and the prosecutors have police command staff brainwashed in to the mantra of, “we can’t arrest our way out of this problem.”

Madame Prosecutor, that just flat out ain’t your call. Rather than make excuses and being, quite literally, wagged by the dog, police should start an all out offense arresting and charging criminals accordingly, followed by demanding the prosecutors prosecute instead of plea bargaining everything down so they don’t have to, gasp, put criminals in jail. Sadly however, until a tipping point is reached and the electorate is outraged enough to act, we will see the continuation of the status quo.
