Free concert attendees were loud throughout
Recently you advertised for a free concert at the Kansas City Museum. It’s gotten to the point that people are so rude that they don’t think of a free concert as a real concert, I guess. I had to ask people to step away, because they were talking at the top of the lungs through the whole concert.”
The concert did not last the full amount of time, either. They started 15 minutes late, and there was a 25-minute break in the middle. There was plenty of time to talk during those breaks. Basically what I’m saying is that somehow we’ve lost manners in the Northeast. The musicians weren’t shown respect; they were treated like they were playing at a bar. They have one of the best jazz singers I’ve ever heard, and I could hardly hear the music because people were talking so loud.
We need to remind people how to behave when they go to an outdoor event, and respect people’s right to listen to the concert, even if its a free concert. It’s a social event, but its not a party. It’s a music event where people come to hear the music.
I love the fact that they have a free music concert. For someone who’s financially strapped, they can go and enjoy the music for free. I’m not putting down the event, I just think people need to learn how to behave in public.
