Last month, as many of you may know, this community news outlet came perilously close to shuttering its operation due to some ongoing and formidable financial issues. Thanks to a generous local investor, however, we’re here to continue to provide news and information that directly affects the citizens of this great community.

When it was learned just prior to the Memorial Day holiday that the House of News would be closing, one of our dedicated, long time employees started a GoFundMe page in an attempt to save the paper from oblivion. That effort netted close to $650 prior to being closed after our investor came forward. To those individual investors, including Snyder’s Supermarket, this News-Dog would like to offer a hearty thank you for supporting community journalism. In this day and age when newspapers are either closing or consolidating their operations to trim expenses, it’s good to know that there are those in our neighborhood that appreciate award-winning journalism at the community level. And yes, we were once again lucky enough to be awarded for our journalism this year in the Missouri Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.

That aside, from the staff here at the House of News, we offer a sincere thank you.
