KANSAS CITY, Missouri – More details have been released regarding a weekend shooting outside of a Northeast Kansas City Quiktrip that sent two individuals to the hospital.

On the morning of Tuesday, April 25, the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department released a narrative of events of the early morning hours on Saturday, April 22 that led to shots being fired outside of the Quiktrip located at 6641 E. Truman Rd. In total there were three victims: one who was shot in the hip; one who was shot in the chest; and another who suffered a burn, in what police are categorizing as an assault.

The incident occurred at roughly 2:00 a.m., on a party bus that was parked outside of the popular gas station. One victim told authorities that he was involved in an argument with an individual when he was jumped by three suspects. He told officers that he heard the gunshots coming from the front of the bus during the fight, which was broken up shortly after the shots were fired.

According to the narrative, 14 witnesses who were on the bus stated that they attempted to disembark the bus as the fight broke out, but did not see who ultimately fired the shots.

Sgt. Kari Thompson of the KCPD Media Unit said on April 25 that there are actually four suspects in the incident, and that two Hispanic males were arrested in the days following the shooting.

“It looks like we did have an investigative arrest, which means a person was placed on a 24-hour hold,” said Thompson.

No charges, however, have yet been filed. Thompson added that there are no guarantees that any charges will ever be filed, as the victims of the shooting have not yet committed to prosecute.

“One of them said that he does not want to prosecute,” said Thompson. “If we don’t have a victim, there’s nothing for us to prosecute.”

Thompson also stated that the case will likely be closed if there are no further charges.
