Kansas City Museum – history of the R.A. Long family
Every Wednesday-Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., the Kansas City Museum (3218 Gladstone) offers free docent-guided tours of the first floor of Corinthian Hall and the first floor of the Carriage House. These tours begin in the Carriage House. Visitors learn about the history and legacy of the Long family and of the Kansas City Museum.
KC Water Services Community Conversation – Nov. 30
The Kansas City Water Services department invites Northeast residents to a community conversation on Wednesday, November 30, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Avenue Family Church (522 Jackson Ave.). On December 1, KC Water will begin conducting smoke testing in the Northeast to find sources of rainwater entering the sewer system. The smoke testing is part of the Northeast Area and Gooseneck Creek Neighborhood Sewer Rehabilitation Project, which aims to restore the sewer collection system. KC Water Services will provide coffee and donuts as they update the community about when smoke testing will occur in your neighborhood, what to expect during smoke testing, and more.

The Northeast location of the Mattie Rhodes Center (148 N. Topping) opens its evening health clinic, named La Clinica, every Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. No appointments needed, but care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Santa’s Wonderland: Gillham Park
Come out to Gillham Park (41st and Gillham, KCMO) on Friday, December 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for Santa’s Wonderland, a holiday tradition. Gather friends and family and spend an evening celebrating the holidays with festive live music, entertainment by the Starlight STARS of Tomorrow, the Rockin’ Rob Show,  light displays and, of course, a visit from Santa and his friends. Free and open to the public.
Knights of Columbus Dinner/Bingo
The Knight’s of Columbus Council #4613 will host its next dinner/bingo night on Friday, December 2 at St. Joseph Hall (3208 Lexington, KCMO). Attendees can enjoy an Italian steak sandwich, fries and a salad for $8. Dinner will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.; bingo will run from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Coffee is free, while drinks and desserts are also available for an additional charge.
Kansas City Museum’s Annual Holiday Party – Dec. 2
The Kansas City Museum’s Annual Holiday Party will be held on Friday, December 2, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The party will include refreshments and light snacks in Corinthian Hall, a performance by the Lyric Opera, and the announcement of the Fairy Princesses and Fairy Princess Costume Contest Winners from Halloween. From 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on December 2, Kansas City Museum Executive Director Anna Marie Tutera will be conducting a special Director’s Making a Museum Tour.

Kris Kringle and K-9’s
Take your pooch to see Santa Claus on Saturday, December 3, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Waggin’ Trails Dog Park (NE 32nd and Swift) in North Kansas City. Entrance into the event costs $5 per dog at the gate. Enjoy pictures with Santa, dog treats, hot chocolate for pet owners, and more.
Pendleton Heights Home Tour and Art Market
The Pendleton Heights neighborhood will host a homes tour and art market on Saturday, December 3 in the Historic Northeast.  The 10th annual homes tour will feature nine magnificent residences featured during past tours, as well as one very exciting work-in-progress. The event runs from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 on the day of the event. In addition, Kansas City University will host the 5th Annual Pendleton Heights Pop Up Art Market from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the same day. KC Museum’s KCFD history exhibit still open
The Kansas City Museum (3218 Gladstone) is now presenting In the Line of Duty: A History of the Kansas City, MO Fire Department from 1868-1968, an exhibition that explores stories of courage and dedication that comprise the heritage and development of the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department (KCFD). From its humble beginnings in the late 1800s to international fame, and from technological triumphs to tragic losses, the KCFD has over 100 years of proud service to its community.

World War II Homefront in the Heartland
Stop by the Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library for a WWII history lesson beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4. As it did throughout America, World War II affected every facet of life in Franklin County, Kansas, from 1941-45. The experience there was captured by a local photographer, J.B. Muecke of Ottawa. Virgil Dean, longtime editor of the quarterly Kansas History: A Journal of the Central Plains, draws from Muecke’s images in an illustrated discussion of life on local home front during the war in this presentation.

Stop by the North-East Public Library (6000 Wilson Rd.) on Monday, December 5 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. for a health screening. No appointment is necessary, and the screenings shouldn’t take long.

Parks Board Meeting
The next meeting of the Parks Board will on Tuesday, December 6, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the KC Parks Administration building (4600 East 63rd Street Trafficway). The Board of Parks and Recreation holds public meetings twice a month on Tuesday at the Parks and Recreation Department headquarters. All meetings start at 2 p.m. and are open to the public.
