KANSAS CITY, Missouri – A Northeast man was shot in broad daylight on Friday, September 30, within sight of James Elementary School.

The shooting occurred just before noon in the middle of Bellaire Avenue, near the intersection of Bellaire and St. John Avenue. The victim was shot in his lower extremities, and was transferred to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities at the scene indicated that they had received inconsistent statements from the victim regarding the incident. Officers added that the victim’s girlfriend heard the shooting, but was unable to provide a solid description of the suspect.

Authorities taped off the block when they arrived at the scene, and were able to recover a shell casing that landed on the street. James Elementary is located at the end of the block, at the intersection of Bellaire and Scarritt Avenue.
