KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Rambo’s restaurant near Independence and Prospect will be closing their doors later this week.

In a Facebook post Monday morning, owners Rambo and Olivia thanked the community for rallying behind their restaurant during the very difficult first year of operation. The restaurant opened a few days prior to last year’s fatal fire at Independence and Prospect. The subsequent closure of the Avenue did not allow easy access to the building almost killing the business in its earliest days. The community rallied behind the family-owned burger and fried chicken joint, even organizing community nights where upwards of 30 neighbors came in and ate. The restaurant, however, was plagued by numerous burglaries and an ongoing landlord-tenant dispute that ultimately drove the couple to make the agonizing decision to close this week.
