KANSAS CITY, Missouri – A group of community volunteers teamed up with interns from Park University’s CORO KC program for a community clean-up project on Saturday, July 23 throughout the Northeast.

The CORO KC interns, embedded in the area as part of an 8-week summer program, put out a call for potential service projects earlier this month. The community happily responded, providing ideas and volunteers to help make the service projects as successful as possible. The individual projects included: cleaning up brush and foliage at 1307 Wabash; painting the building facade facing St. John next to the Indian Mound community garden; cleaning up trash, tires, and furniture from vacant lots near 13th and Indiana; painting over graffiti outside of North-East Public Library; and various projects at Pendleton Heights, including painting, planting flowers, cleaning weeds and brush out of alleyways, and installing a bike rack.
