The Northeast Farmer’s Market opened for the season on Thursday, May 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is the second season for the Northeast Farmer’s Market, which filled the gap created when the Mattie Rhodes Center stopped running their ‘Beans and Greens’ farmer’s market in 2014.

In addition to cash transactions, the Northeast Farmer’s Market also participates in the Cultivate KC Double Up Food Bucks program. Through a partnership with Cultivate KC, shoppers with SNAP benefits can match their purchases dollar-for-dollar, up to $25 each week.

“Last year, we matched $1,300 in EBT,” said Northeast Farmer’s Market founder Jenna Wilkins. “It’s a really good incentive to get people who get SNAP benefits to buy vegetables, because it makes more in their price range when they’re doubling their money.”
