Pueblo to Pueblo

Join the Kansas City Museum for its latest exhibit, Pueblo to Pueblo: The Legacy of Southwest Indian Pottery and Now & Then. The exhibit runs from now until June 25 in Corinthian Hall and is free to view. At 3 p.m., head over to the North-East Library for a Chronic Disease Management Workshop. Open to all adults and free of charge. This workshop would benefit you if you have been diagnosed with a chronic disease, are living with someone with a chronic disease, or are taking care of someone with a chronic disease.

Adult Thursday – Wii Bowling

Come in to the North-East Public Library (6000 Wilson Rd) on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. to play Wii Bowling with other adults.

Frontier STEM High School STEM Expo

Come out to Frontier STEM High School (6455 E Commerce Ave, Kansas City, MO 64120) from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13 for the STEM Expo. Featuring more than 80 exhibits and 100 students, the expo provides attendees an opportunity to explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on, minds-on activities. This free family-friendly community celebration aims to show that science is not only meaningful and relevant, but also fun!

Great flood of 1993 exhibit now open at St. Joseph Museum

Come out to St. Joseph’s Wyeth-Tootle Mansion (1100 Charles Street, 64501) to see a new display about 1993’s 500-year flood. “Confluence: The Great Flood of 1993” is newly open, and will run through 2018. The exhibit will explore the causes and provide a social history of the 1993 flood through videos and photographs. Chair fitness

Join North-East Public Library at 9:30 a.m. for physical fitness. No matter what your limitations, maybe you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to give you a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.

Scarritt Renaissance playground grand opening

The grand opening celebration for the new playground at Kessler Park in the Scarritt Renaissance neighborhood will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at The Concourse. The playground will feature the first embankment slide in the area.

Computer Class–general

Learn about navigating your computer in this class, which offers insight into hardware and software components. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library.

S.O.S. Navy’s 2nd Annual “May Day” Toy Boat Regatta

The public is invited to join in this year’s toy boat races, being held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15 at the Kessler pond (located off Chestnut and Cliff Drive). Make a boat at home, bring last year’s, or make one on race day. Wooden boats will be available for all kids to decorate and keep. Pick up boat ahead of time at Raj Ma Hall (2829 E. 7th).

The Indian Mound neighborhood association will meet on Monday, May 16 at the North-East Public Library (6000 Wilson Rd.). The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Lykins Neighborhood meeting

The next Lykins Neighborhood meeting will be held on Monday, May 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Eleos Coffee House (3401 Independence Ave.). Join Lykins neighbors for coffee as they review crime and grime, organize neighborhood cleanups, and focus on creating a better community. Other neighborhoods in Historic Northeast are more than welcome to join.

Black Archives of Mid-America ‘With My Eyes No Longer Blind’ Exhibit

This permanent exhibit – named for the Langston Hughes poem – tells the story of African Americans in Kansas City from the time of Lewis and Clark to the mayorship of Emmanuel Cleaver II. Arranged both chronologically and thematically, this exhibit explores the development of churches, schools, places of entertainment, political organizations, businesses, and social clubs.

Charity Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s – May 18

The Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association will be hosting Charity Bingo on Wednesday, May 18, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Hamburger Mary’s (3700 Broadway Blvd.). In addition to prizes, there will also be a live auction.

Northeast Farmers’ Market

The Northeast Farmers’ Market (30011 Independence Ave., KCMO 64124) will open for the season on Thursday, May 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be live music and kids activities, as well as a wide assortment of vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, bread, coffee, and more. The Northeast Farmers’ Market also participates in the Cultivate KC Double Up Food Bucks program. That means SNAP benefits can be matched for up to $25 each week, allowing customers to stretch their money twice as far.
