Northeast News

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — For the first time since purchasing the Northeast News in 1998, the paper will allow the publication of endorsement letters from our readers. However, we ask that you follow a few simple guidelines in doing so. First, please keep all letters under 350 words. Second, letters must include the name and address of the writer and a daytime telephone number where the writer may be reached during normal business hours. All letters must be signed.

Only one letter, per month, from a single author will be considered for publication — regardless if the subject is for or against a candidate or focuses on a ballot issue. All letters will run on a space available basis in our print edition but will run in our digital edition as we receive them. Lastly, keep it clean and relevant. We do reserve the right to edit incoming letters, a guideline which has always been in place so letters that are deemed inflammatory in nature will not be considered for publication. Nobody wants to hear why you think candidate A or B or C is a worthless human being. Keep it pithy and relevant.

As part of this election cycle, the Northeast News will sit down with each candidate for Missouri’s 19th House District seat to discuss where each of them stand on the issues that face Northeast residents. That film footage will be available on our web site for viewing once the primary season begins.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a real horserace for our Missouri House seat and we’re looking forward to bringing you complete coverage of this election cycle.
