Pan American Association of Kansas City’s Student Art Competition
From now until March 26, the Kansas City Museum presents “Pan American Association of Kansas City’s Student Art Competition.” The Kansas City Museum is proud to be the venue for an exhibition of artwork by the winning high school students who participated in the Pan American Association of Kansas City’s Grand Boulevard of the Americas Student Art Competition. Winning artwork will be printed on vinyl banners and installed on Grand Boulevard in spring 2016 as part of the Grand Boulevard of the Americas project.

At 3 p.m. at the North-East Library, this course will teach participants how to walk and stretch safely, increase flexibility, and improve balance. Weekly incentives will be given to participants. Join to learn how walking can improve your fitness and help manage your arthritis pain.

Join North-East Public Library at 9:30 a.m. for physical fitness. No matter what your limitations, maybe you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to give you a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.
Story time and craft
Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

Join the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Glennon and council #4613 for weekly Lenten fish fry dinner. Menu includes beer battered codfish, fries and coleslaw. Dinners take place in St. Joseph’s Hall at St. Anthony’s Church, 3208 Lexington Ave.

The Maiming of the Shrew: A Live Mystery Game
Join the North-East Library at 1:30 p.m. for a live mystery game. Everyone has a reason to kill Lady Katheter DeVane, but only one guest at William Sheepsheare’s Twelfth Night party could have done it. Take on one of the many comic roles (no acting experience necessary) for an afternoon of murder, mayhem, quips, and quotes in high Shakespearean style.

All you can eat shrimp dinner
The Holy Rosary Parish is hosting an all you can eat boiled, spiced shrimp dinner from 4 – 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the American Sons of Columbus Hall, 2415 Independence Ave. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Fourth annual Easter egg hunt
All residents of the Historic Northeast are invited bring their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews for this annual event. In addition to thousands of eggs to hunt, there are bounce houses, games and prizes and the Easter bunny. The hunt takes place at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 26.
Northeast resident meeting
At 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, at the Kansas City Museum, area residents will host a meeting with city and county leaders to discuss important matters within Scarritt and Historic Northeast. Guests include Kimiko Gilmore, Assistant City Manager who has stepped in for City Manager Troy Schulte since he has been called out of town; Major Joe McHale, Commander of East Patrol; Jean Peters Baker, Jackson County Prosecutor; and Frank White, County Exective. The primary focus of this meeting is the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association. However, some of the issues will be common to other neighborhoods within Historic Northeast so everyone is welcome to attend.
NEHS Class of 1946 reunion
Join your classmates from Northeast High School’s Class of 1946 for the 70th reunion. The event will take place this June. More details will be provided soon.
