KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Although some stores will be open on Thanksgiving because of Black Friday deals, there will be a few places you won’t be able to go.

The Kansas City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26 and 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. The 311 Call Center, a division of the City Manager’s Office, will also be closed. During the city-observed holiday, trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day. The trash and recycling schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday will be as follows:

Thanksgiving Holiday

• Trash and recycling will be collected as usual Nov. 23- 25.

• Residents who usually have Thursday trash and recycling collection will receive this service Friday, Nov. 27.

• Residents who usually have Friday collection will receive this service Saturday, Nov. 28.

Jackson County offices, including the courthouses in Kansas City and Independence, will also be closed Nov. 26 and 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Also closed for the holiday: area banks, all branches of the Kansas City Library, area offices of the U.S. Postal Service, and area schools.
