KANSAS CITY, Missouri — For nearly 10 years, the residents of Pendleton Heights have taken the time to celebrate their historic homes with the Kansas City community.

From noon – 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association hosts its 9th ninth annual Holiday Homes Tour and Artist Market. The 2015 tour begins at a neighborhood school, Scuola Vita Nuova Charter School, 535 Garfield Ave. The charter school, which was recently remodeled after the old Don Bosco Charter High School closed, will offer tours of the campus to compliment the historic home tours being usually offered. Scuola Vita Nuova will also be the site of food truck lunch, as well as holiday shopping at the Artist Market, which features items created by local artists.

After you visit the school, spend your afternoon touring five historic homes on Brooklyn Avenue and Elma Street. All of the homes featured on the tour are more than 100-years-old, with architectural styles ranging from Queen Anne, Folk Victorian and Italianate. The homes vary in style, character and even stage of rehabilitation.

Proceeds from the tour benefit the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association and Scuola Vita Nuova. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets for the tour, visit pendletonheights.org.
