Walk with ease club

At 9 a.m. at the North-East Library, this six-week course will teach participants how to walk and stretch safely, increase flexibility, and improve balance. Weekly incentives will be given to participants. Learn how walking can improve your fitness and help manage your arthritis pain.

Northeast Farmer’s Market

Northeast Farmers’ Market is open Thursdays, 4 – 7 p.m., until Oct. 1, at the corner of Independence and Gladstone Avenues. They accept cash, debit cards, and EBT. Chair Fitness

Join North-East Public Library at 9:30 a.m. for physical fitness. No matter what your limitations, maybe you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to give you a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.

Knights of Columbus fish fry

Join the Knights of Columbus #4613 on Friday, Oct. 2, inside St. Joseph’s Hall at St. Anthony’s Church, 3208 Lexington Ave., for a fish fry and bingo. Dinner runs from 5 – 7 p.m. and bingo takes place from 7 – 9 p.m. Dinner includes cole slaw, hush puppies, pop, water, coffee and dessert.

Saturday, October 3

Team Up to Clean Up

Join other Northeast residents from 8 a.m. – noon on Saturday, Oct. 3, as neighborhood associations clean-up the Northeast. A trailer for tire disposal will be available at Concourse Park. Compactor trucks will be located at Concourse Park and Budd Park to collect trash, yard waste, and bulky items. There will not be door-to-door pick-ups. If you need assistance with your trash, schedule a free pick-up by calling 816-513-1313. Acoustic Jams on the Portico

From 1 – 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, join the Kansas City Museum for a jam session. Free to participate and listen. Break out your musical instrument, clear your throat, tune up, and join us on the front porch and lawn of Corinthian Hall for an acoustic jam. All styles of music are welcome. The jams mostly feature three cord songs and participants take turns leading songs. Beginners are welcome. For inquires, contact jam coordinator Peter Gross at (816) 674-0393. These jams will continue on the first Saturday of each month through October.

Diabetes self-management class

Find out how diabetes affects your body, make sense of your blood sugar number, meet others who have diabetes, have fun leaning in a small group though games, activities and supportive conversation. Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 29, and run from 10:30 – noon, at the Don Bosco Senior Center, 580 Campbell St. Classes are free and open to Medicare Beneficiaries who have diabetes or are pre-diabetic. Chavez and presented by the Kansas City Museum in partnership with El Centro, Inc., Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines is an exhibition exploring the rich history and legacy of Mexican American fast pitch softball leagues in Missouri and Kansas. This exhibition features a documentary film based on oral histories of former players and items from personal collections including photographs, uniforms, league documents, trophies, and other historical materials. On view from 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.

Knights of Columbus breakfast

Sponsored by The Knights of Columbus #4613, prices are rolling back to what they were two years agp when Breakfast was $5.50 adults and $3 for children under 12-years-old. Fall Homes Tour

The Northeast Kansas City Historical Society’s fourth annual Fall Homes Tour will be held from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. The first floors of classic turn-of-the-century homes will be featured on this year’s tour, including the Kansas City Museum. The sales tent for advanced ticket pick-up and day-of ticket sales will be set-up on the lawn across the street facing the Kansas City Museum.
