KANSAS CITY, Missouri — While two people are expected to recover from minor injuries as the result of one area shooting, a separate incident in the Northeast left one dead.

The first incident took place around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, outside the Golden Gate Funeral Chapel, when Kansas City Police officers were called to the 2800 block of E. 18th St., after two people were shot. The shooting took place during the funeral of Raymond Jones, 28, who was killed in a shooting earlier this summer, on July 30, near 40th Street and College Avenue. No shots were ever fired inside the funeral home.

Police are still investigating and have not announced any arrests.

The second incident took place late Sunday night in the area of 10th Street and Spruce Avenue. Authorities said a fight broke out in a vacant lot, which led to two people getting shot, killing one and seriously injuring another

Police do not yet have anyone in custody.
