Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines

Curated by Dr. Gene T. Chavez and presented by the Kansas City Museum in partnership with El Centro, Inc., Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines is an exhibition exploring the rich history and legacy of Mexican American fast pitch softball leagues in Missouri and Kansas. Opening on the weekend that the 2015 National Conference of La Raza’s (NCLR) annual conference comes to Kansas City, this exhibition features a documentary film based on oral histories of former players and items from personal collections including photographs, uniforms, league documents, trophies, and other historical materials. On view from July 11 – September 5, 2015. Exhibition tours are free and will be available on the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

This workshop would benefit you if you have been diagnosed with a chronic disease, are living with someone with a chronic disease, or taking care of someone with a chronic disease.

This class is designed to give you a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.

Paul Mesner Puppets

Join the North-East Library at 10:30 a.m. for Paul Mesner Puppets in a veggie-centric love story about two avid gardeners, Okra and Romaine, who meet, marry, and have a beautiful daughter, Rapunzel. Enter an evil witch, a foreboding tower, and a handsome prince. Of course, our heroes leave happily ever alfalfa. Appropriate for all ages.

Sign up for a free e-mail account and follow along with this tutorial that teaches the ins and outs of sending and receiving email, as well as how to organize your messages. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

Northeast Kansas City Arts Summer Concert

Join the Northeast Kansas City Arts for its concert at dusk concert series this summer. The Scotty McCormick Jr Band will play from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Colonnade at Concourse Park.

Cliff Drive and Spirit of KC Scenic Byway Connector Trail Open House

The Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department invites you to attend a public Open House event from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Garrison Community Center, 1124 E. Fifth St., to view the trail design that will connect the Cliff Drive Scenic Byway to the Spirit of KC Scenic Byway. The meeting will be hosted by the KCMO Parks and Recreation Department and their design consultant TranSystems Corporation.
