KANSAS CITY, Missouri — City officials, in partnership with the Kansas City Missouri Homesteading Authority, have launched a new Kansas City Homeownership Initiative Program.

The program, Est. KC, identifies homes in Kansas City that are in need of rehabilitation and assists first-time home buyers who are interested in purchasing and rehabilitating the home. Est. KC offers a special homeownership annuity to program participants. After five years, home owners will be eligible for up to $12,000 in approved financial reimbursements which can be used for spending related to family goals such as payment for college loans, or application to the home-loan balance.

John Wood, Director of Neighborhoods and Housing Services, said Est. KC is a unique opportunity for first-time home buyers to rehabilitate and create a home in Kansas City. The KC Homeownership Initiative Program will be administered by the City’s Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department, Housing and Community Development Division.
