Last week, the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 21st birthday in style. The evening celebrated the past and present of the Northeast. Carl DiCapo was named an honorary chairman of the chamber and presented with a commemorative brick by chamber president Bobbi Baker-Hughes which represented his many years of works for the Historic Northeast. Baker-Hughes noted that the event couldn’t have happened without the coordination of the planning committee, which included the women in the top photo [from left: Ann Rundquist, Baker-Hughes, committee co-chair SueAnn Erb and committee chair Julie Lane]. During the gala, volunteers wore hats and jewelry from shops in the Northeast to be bid on as part of the event’s auction. Other highlights of the evening includes speeches from Mayor Sly James and City Manager Troy Schulte.
