Weekend brings out gardeners and museum enthusiasts. [Above] The Kansas City Museum opened its latest exhibit Divining the Museum: visions of Past, Present, on Saturday, May 2. Artists from the Kansas City Art Institute were given historical information about Corinthian Hall and plans for its future and asked to create artwork that conveyed their impressions of the Northeast fixture. Pictured are Parks Director Mark McHenry, Museum Director Anna Marie Tutera, and Curators Paige Beltowski and Max Adrian.

[Below] Sponsored by Friends of the Kansas City Problem-Solving Courts, the gardening project began in 2013 as part of Drug Court garden but expanded to include participants from all three problem-solving courts, Drug Court, Mental Health Court and Veteran’s Treatment Court. These problem solving courts provide qualifying offenders with services such as substance abuse treatment and/or mental health treatment in lieu of jail time.. The space for the garden is provided by Kansas City Community Gardens. Due to its success, the garden has doubled in size over the past two years and was the recipient of a 2014 Sustainable Success Stories award from the Mid-America Regional Council. The garden also received a Get Growing KC grant to help with equipment and plants for this year. The garden is located on Indiana Avenue and 14th Street.
