KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Kansas City Missouri Police Department is sponsoring a peace rally to encourage community-police partnerships.

The rally will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2 at Linwood Boulevard and Prospect Avenue, specifically, the parking lot on the west side of Prospect between Linwood and 31st Street. All community members are invited to attend. In a press release announcing the rally, police Chief Darryl Forté said he wanted, “to take this opportunity to show unity between the police and other members of the Kansas City community.”

The Rev. John “Modest” Miles of Morningstar Baptist Church will begin the rally with a prayer, followed by comments from Mayor Sly James, Board of Police Commissioners President Alvin Brooks and Chief Forté. Afterward, police department members will be on hand to mingle and chat with community members.
