Kansas City Museum

During the month of April, the Kansas City Museum is offering free docent-led “Hard Hat” tours by appointment only. The tours are of the first floor of the Carriage House and the first floor of Corinthian Hall. You will see remaining original architecture and the process of renovation, as you learn about the significant contributions of R.A. Long and his family as well as the history of the Kansas City Museum. Regular museum hours will resume Thursday, May 7 when the museum opens its latest, temporary exhibit, “Divining the Museum: Visions of Past, Present and Future.”

Book of Revelation explained

For 12 weeks, from Wednesday, March 18, to Wednesday, June 3, Dr. George Westlake Jr., Pastor Emeritus of the Sheffield Family Life Center, 5700 Winner Road, will be teaching the book of Revelations during Family night at the center. The classes run from 7 – 8:30 p.m. and feature services and programs for every member of the family.

Recycled Art

Join North-East Public Library at 4 p.m. to make unique art and fun crafts out of recycled materials in honor of Earth Day. For kids and teens.

Join the North-East Library at 10 a.m. to learn basic English skills: reading, writing, and conversation. No fee or books required.

Pendleton Heights and Raygun Party

Join the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association from 5 – 8 p.m. at Raygun, 1803 Baltimore Ave., to hang out, enjoy some refreshments, and get a special edition Pendleton Heights t-shirt, made to order. You pick the size and color of your shirt and they’ll print a unique PH-themed graphic on it.

Join the North-East Library at 10 a.m. to learn to speak conversational Spanish.

Computer Class – Microsoft

Join North-East Public Library for class on the fundamentals of Microsoft Word which will focus on templates as well as the various menu options. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

Chalk Walk

Gather outside The Concourse, 217 S. Benton Blvd., from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26, for the eighth annual free, family-friendly event in the tradition of European 16th Century street painting. Transform the dull, grey concrete of the sidewalks and surface of the Concourse Park Fountain into colorful, pastel canvases. Guest organizations include the Kansas City Library, Northeast High School Alumni Association, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and more. Divining the Museum: Visions of Past, Present, and Future

The Kansas City Museum will open its next exhibit with a reception from 5 – 9 p.m. Saturday, May 2. The temporary exhibition features Kansas City artists and students of the Kansas City Art Institute curated by Max Adrian and Paige Beltowski. This exhibition showcases contemporary artwork including installations, sculpture, ceramics, and photography alongside original objects from the Museum’s collection. The reception will include performative readings starting at 7:30 p.m. that tell stories inspired by the layered history of the Museum and its myriad inhabitants over the years. Spaces are Limited.
