Join the North-East Library at 10 a.m. to learn basic English skills: reading, writing, and conversation. No fee or books required.

Friday, March 6

Dr. Seuss Celebration

Join North-East Public Library for a special Dr. Seuss story time at 10:30 a.m., in honor of Read Across America Day. After the story time, there will be Dr. Seuss themed games and crafts.

Job Fair

The Frontier STEM High School is hosting a career fair for current students. The fair begins at 9 a.m. Over 10 employers from the Kansas City area are scheduled to participate, including: HDR Engineering, Inc., Gould Evans Architecture, Hallmark Cards, Truman Medical Center, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, United States Army, Kansas City Police Department, Kansas City Fire Department, Dos Mundos, and Jeff Ruman Photography. Approximately 160 students will have the chance to talk to local representatives of academic, business and community institutions and to start planning for their futures.

All you can eat shrimp dinner

The Hibernians are sponsoring an all you can eat shrimp dinner every Friday in Lent. The dinner will take place form 5 – 7:30 p.m. at the Redemptorist Cafeteria, 3333 Broadway Blvd. Admission is $14 for adults and $6 for children.

Knights of Columbus fish fry

The Knights of Columbus 4613 are hosting two fish fries this month. The first begins at 5 p.m. Friday, March 6, in St. Joseph Hall at St. Anthony’s Church, 3208 Lexington Ave. Admission is $8 and bingo will follow dinner from 7 – 9 p.m. The second event is scheduled for Friday, March 27.

Communiversity Spanish Class

Join the Northeast Library at 10 a.m. to learn to speak conversational Spanish.

Computer Class

Learn about navigating your computer in this class, which offers insight into hardware and software components. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library.

Knights of Columbus breakfast

The Knights of Columbus 4613 are hosting a breakfast from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 8, in St. Joseph Hall at St. Anthony’s Church, 3208 Lexington Ave. Admission is $6.50 for adults.
