Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

Communiversity Spanish Class

Join the Northeast Library at 10 a.m. to learn to speak conversational Spanish.

Computer Class

Learn about navigating your computer in this class, which offers insight into hardware and software components. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library.

The Vagina Monologues at the UMKC Student Union Theater

The UMKC Student Union Theatre, 5100 Cherry St., will host a production of the Vagina Monologues at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Advanced tickets are $20 per person and $10 with student ID. The prices increase by $5 if you purchase your ticket at the door. A portion of the proceeds will go to the UMKC’s Women’s Center’s, Violence Prevention and Response Project that benefits both the campus and the community, with thebalance going to the national V-Day fund (www.Vday.org), a global movement to end violence against women and girls. “The Art of Love” Valentine Coffee

Presented by Scarritt Renaissance Coffee Club, take in the warm, neighborly love as the Kansas City Museum hosts the Scarritt Renaissance Coffee Club’s annual Valentine coffee, “The Art of Love” from 9 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14. You’ll enjoy hot coffee, decadent sweets, and breakfast savories, while listening to romantic music; original love poetry recited by poet Jose Faus and stories l’amour from storyteller Joyce Slater. You’ll also be able to purchase beautiful Valentine gifts from local artists. The event is free, but space is limited and you must RSVP to attend. Beads, Beans and Beer

The Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Beads, Beans and Beer fundraiser from 5: 30 – 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Don Bosco Senior Center, 580 Campbell, Kansas City, Mo. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets also available for purchase from the Northeast News, 5715 St. John Ave. In addition to food and drinks, there will be a live auction hosted by auctioneer Randy Easley, Mardi Gras costume contest, live jazz music, a raffle, door prizes and more. The evening’s master of ceremonies is Fox 4 news anchor Mark Alford. To reserve tickets in advance, call (816) 231-3312. All proceeds go towards future Historic Northeast events.

All you can eat shrimp dinner

The Hibernians are sponsoring an all you can eat shrimp dinner every Friday in Lent, beginning Friday, Feb. 20. The dinner will take place form 5 – 7:30 p.m. at the Redemptorist Cafeteria, 3333 Broadway Blvd. Admission is $14 for adults and $6 for children.
