The recent Grand Jury decision in Ferguson not to indict Officer Darren Wilson made this conservative minded news pooch quite happy. Sadly, however, looters and rioters from across the country descended upon Ferguson and used it as their own personal playground of destruction, all in the name of social justice for local thug Michael Brown. Operative verb “thug.”

But this news-dog wonders, much like former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, where is the media focus on all of the black-on-black crime that plagues inner city neighborhoods every day of the year? Virtually no attention is paid to black-on-black crime other than television camera crews that swoop in to offer a two-minute bite on who got killed, shot or robbed on some nondescript corner, usually east of Troost. As soon as the live shot is done, they’re back to the station for their next assignment.

This vocal lil pooch has oft railed against the city’s Aim4Peace program for a variety of reasons but to this doggie’s knowledge, they’re the only ones consistently calling attention to this issue. Where is the black leadership in the community when the shooting is goin’ on. Where’s Rev. Wallace Hartsfield? Where’s ol John “Modest” Miles when the lead is flyin? No where close, we can assure you. Obviously out greasing palms for “walkin around money.”

Where are the community leaders attempting to make wholesale change in Kansas City’s urban neighborhoods so area youth have positive role models to emulate instead of having to look up to the corner crack dealer for guidance? This pooch says kudos to the Aim4Peace workers for at least attempting to make institutional changes to what has become the accepted way of life in Kansas City’s urban core. Maybe it’s time for more black “leaders” to do some self assessment and step up instead of steppin’ in front of the camera, advancing the “injustice” narrative. Introspection anyone?
