KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Most people get a kick out of snooping inside someone else’s home, just to see how it’s decorated differently from their own.

Well, residents of Pendleton Heights are encouraging you to snoop away.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, the neighborhood hosts its eighth annual Holiday Homes Tour. Tours of the five homes are scheduled from noon – 5 p.m. along Garfield Avenue and Maple Boulevard. Jessica Ray, president of the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association, said along with the homes, there will be a pop-up artist market at the Sock Monkey Art Gallery, 2203 Lexington Ave.

The tour allows for visitors to see homes in various stages of renovation. Ray said new homes are selected every year, all within walking distance of one another. She added Maple Boulevard’s inclusion is a first for the tour.

Along with the tour, there will be music, art and food trucks and an area behind Maple Boulevard with tables and a bon fire.

“That’ll be a good area for families to stop and relax,” Ray said.

The tour, Ray said, is the neighborhood association’s main fundraiser of the year, supporting its community garden and other neighborhood functions throughout the year. Jerusalem Farm will also receive a portion of the proceeds. In the past, the event has typically raised around $5,000. Ray said the number of visitors is usually dependent on the weather.

“Don’t let the weather scare you away,” Ray said.

Tickets for the tours are $12 in advance, $15 at the door, with children 12-years-old and under free. To purchase tickets, visit www.pendletonheights.org.
