KC Museum Hard Hat Tour

Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the 100+ year old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will also tour the exhibit inside Corinthian Hall: Planning for the Future: Find History at Kansas City Museum. Admission is free and this week’s tours will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 10 a.m. and at noon on Sunday at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd.

 

Thursday, September 4

Game Night

Join North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., for game night from 4 – 6 p.m. at the library. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Video games and board games will be available to play.

Northeast Kansas City Historical Society

The Northeast Kansas City Historical Society will host its quarterly general meeting from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The informal meeting and potluck social will be held at a historic Queen Anne Victorian home, 1836 Pendleton Avenue, KCMO, 64124. New members are welcome!

Story Time and Craft

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

 

Saturday, September 6

Spanish lessons

Join the North-East Library for free Spanish lessons. Two ongoing sessions are available for the cost of a free will donation. Beginner classes take place every Saturday from 10 a.m. – noon and advanced classes follow from noon – 2 p.m. To enroll, contact learnwithpepe@hotmail.com.

NEKC International Taste and Tour

Join the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce for its International Taste and Tour from 5 – 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Don Bosco Senior Center, 580 Campbell Ave. The evening includes foods from international vendors, a trolley tour of the Northeast, 50/50 raffle and live music. Mini Health Fair

Join North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., for a mini health fair beginning at noon on Saturday, Sept. 6. The health fair is being held in conjunction with the Truman Medical Center. There will be a variety of booths to visit providing information on a healthy lifestyle.

Computer Class

Learn about navigating your computer in this class, which offers insight into hardware and software components. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library.

Backyard Church

Christ and Northeast Minster Presbyterian Churches, 544 Wabash Ave., invite you to join them for Saturday Backyard Church! Beginning at 3 p.m., join them for a free program of Bible education, games and service to the community.

Northeast Book Club

Join the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., for its monthly Northeast Book Club at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7. Share your passion for books and join in on riveting book discussions.

 

Monday, September 8

Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association Meeting

The Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association will host its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd.

 

Tuesday, September 9

Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association Meeting

The Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association will meet from 7 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

Kansas City Digital Media Lab

The KCDML is open to youth ages 13-18 every Tuesday from 3:30 – 7 p.m. at the Kansas City Library. It’s a safe space for youth who are interested in, or want to learn more about storytelling and/or coding. You’ll have access to equipment and adult collaborators to learn, create, and grow. All of the adult collaborators have had background checks and are simply available to help youth take their expertise and interest to the next level.
