Friday walk-a-thon will affect NE traffic

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — City officials are advising motorists to be more aware this weekend because of an area walk-a-thon.

The Mount Pleasant Freedom School Walk-A-Thon/Walk for Literacy will take place from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 27, and will temporarily close the following streets:

– East 22nd Street, between Olive Street and Prospect Avenue

– Brooklyn Avenue, between East 22nd Street and East 31st Street

– East 31st Street, between Brooklyn Avenue and Prospect Avenue

– Prospect Avenue, between East 31st Street and East 22nd Street

Please observe caution and obey all posted detours, barricades and no parking signs. Police are prepared to allow motorists to cross the routes when they deem it safe for race participants. For more information, please visit www.kcraceday.org.
