This feisty news-dog recently got wind of some recent city contracted repairs to a water line in the 100 block of N. Van Brunt. Seems the contractor, one J.M. Fahey Company, replaced a curb valve at 104 N. Van Brunt. Two weeks later, the city sent a crew out and the diggin’ commenced again.

Your tax dollars at work.

Seems that the contractor didn’t do the job correctly. So, instead of just digging up the curb at the problem address, the digging spanned three addresses and left a crumbling mess in the wake of the project.

More of your tax dollars at work.

On top of all that, one of their pieces of equipment leaked hydraulic fluid all over the street and parkway, killing all the vegetation. The resulting mess is now home to two steel plates in the roadway and a crumbling curb in front of three addresses, all brought to you by YOUR Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department.

Fear not, however, as Mayor Sly James will ride to the rescue in the glimmering new silver streetcar and fix it all. Because none of this would have happened if we had a streetcar. And it won’t happen again either because, you guessed it, we’re getting us a streetcar!

If this Mayor and Councilman Russ “smarter than we are” Johnson are to be believed, the new toy train streetcar is the cure for all our infrastructure ills. Oh, wait, what infrastructure?

If you’re buyin’ any of this bilge, this infrastructure minded news canine would like to sell you some beach-front property in Iowa.
