KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department announced major construction will close Troost Avenue from 24th Street to 27th Street for three months. Construction began on Monday, May 12.

Motorists will be detoured to Campbell Street. Visitors to the Kansas City Health Department are advised to access the building’s south entrance at 24th and Harrison Streets.

Crews began work on an extensive $7 million street reconstruction project on Troost Avenue between 23rd Street and 30th Street. Construction will install new pavement, curbs, sidewalks and streetscape elements along the corridor. The northern section of the rebuilt Troost Avenue will be designed for increased walkability and neighborhood interaction, while the southern section of the project will focus on street reconstruction.

The current phase of construction is scheduled for completion in early August. Substantial completion of the Troost Avenue reconstruction is planned for spring 2015.
