One person killed in shooting near 13th and Virginia

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – One person is dead after two car engaged in a shoot-out near 13th Street and Virginia Avenue Thursday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Lydia Avenue after reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle at the intersection of 13th Street and Virginia Avenue that had been in an accident and came to rest on it’s roof. The driver, Calvert Antwine, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers were told a second vehicle was chasing the first vehicle and shooting at it. At this time, it is unclear if the victim died from being shot or as a result of the accident. Detectives ask anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline 816.474.8477.
