New Year celebrations aren’t over yet, and Spike Nguyen of Northeast’s Pho Hoa Noodle Soup is ready to celebrate.

Nguyen, owner of Pho Hoa, said all are invited to stop by the restaurant at 1447 E. Independence Ave., Kansas City, Mo., on Friday, Jan. 31, to celebrate the Vietnamese New Year. This year, it’s the Year of the Horse, which represents travel and enthusiasm. Many believe this is the year of rapid development and prosperity.

A dragon dance, complete with performers and drummers, will be performed at noon and 7 p.m. Jan. 31. Nguyen said patrons can expect a “festive atmosphere” and tasty food specials. In addition, Vi Tran, a Broadway actor who’s starred in productions such as M. Butterfly and Miss Saigon, will be a special guest. The event also serves as a fundraiser.

“We’re doing this to keep our heritage alive and also as a fundraiser for orphans in Vietnam,” Nguyen said.
