The Mary Princess

This holiday season, get GLAMA-rous with the Kansas City Museum! Join GLAMA: the Gay & Lesbian Archive of Mid-America at Corinthian Hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 12 as famed KC entertainer Melinda Ryder, the Fairy Queen, assumes the throne for a one-night only “Mary” Princess fundraising cocktail reception. Adult Thursday Games

Join other adults at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., Kansas City, Mo., to play a variety of games at 10 a.m.

Story Time and Craft

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play. This week’s theme is penguins and polar bears.

Fairy Princess Days

The Kansas City Museum will host its Fairy Princess days on Saturdays in December on Dec. 7, 14 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays on Dec. 8, 15 and 22 from noon to 4 p.m. at the museum. Cost is $10 and includes Fairy Princess themed crafts, a complementary photo and Fairy Princess gift. Also, check out the Fairy Princess Boutique to stock up on your Fairy Princess essentials.

Frontier Schools Science Fair

Frontier Schools will host a science fair from 9 a.m. to noon at its north and south locations in Kansas City, Mo. : 6700 Corporate Drive and 5606 Troost Ave. About 800 students in grades fifth through ninth are participating. A number of the students hail from Historic Northeast. All are invited to view the science fair projects.

Back Door Pottery Open House

Back Door Pottery, owned by Northeast resident Rebecca Koop, will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 14-15 at the shop, 3922 St. John Ave., Kansas City, Mo. In addition to pottery for sale, there will also be complimentary homemade cookies and hot drinks.

Scarritt Coffee Club Monthly Gathering

Scarritt Coffee Club will host its monthly gathering from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Dec. 14. Guest of honor is José Faus, who has exhibited artwork extensively in the area as well as painted area murals. He’s also a founding member of the Latino Writers Collective and is an award-winning author. Faus will read “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” as well as selections of his own poetry. There will also be a Christmas carol sing-along led by Veda and Bruce Rogers. Hosts are Dr. Elaine and David Joslyn. Please bring a savory or sweet breakfast hors d’oeuvre to share. Indian Mound Neighborhood Meeting

Indian Mound Neighborhood Association will host its monthly meeting at the North-East Public Library at 5:30 p.m.
