The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City and the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce teamed up Nov. 15 to host a ribbon cutting ceremony for a Mexican restaurant in Northeast.

La Flor de Chiapas Restaurante Mexicano, 3253 Independence Ave., has been thriving for three years. La Flor owner Julisa Contreras said she wanted to host a ribbon cutting ceremony to meet more people from the community. During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Contreras received a framed certificate from the Northeast Chamber for participating in the chamber’s Northeast Taste and Tour event and received a free, one-year membership to the Northeast Chamber. Following the ceremony, Contreras treated guests to a tasty spread of Mexican food.
